Campin' ain't easy!

The first camping trip for JTJG was completed this past weekend.  Eklutna Lake was OUR choice, the fact that the campsites did not open for another week was not!  The fact that the drive-in campgrounds were not open yet for the year, led us to parking about a half a mile away.  Thank goodness we brought the bicycles and plenty of backpacks for Jess to haul all of the stuff in!
Jacks was too interested in all of the new smells and for his first trip that's fine, but next trip he will find a pair of saddle bags attached to himself, filled with his food and water in it!  Four trips later, we had a campsite ready with tents, wood, food, and gear.

A bike ride down to the lake and back left us with hungry bellies and sore butts.

The fire soon raged as our corn on the cob (thanks for the advice Granny) and turkey burgers made their way from cooler to belly.  After a few campsite photos and Jess getting ketchup all over everything, it was time to get ready for bed.
The morning brought a nice warming fire and some cereal and poptarts for breakfast.

Bellies filled, it was now time to pack up and head out.  Some how we managed to pack all of our stuff in the two large backpacks and make one trip with the cooler on the front handlebars of my bike.  Truck loaded and sore butts in the truck seats, we made time for one ice cream on the way out and continued home!
